Rudy Leon Indexer and Nonfiction Editor

Indexer/Nonfiction Editor

I specialize in indexing and copyediting academic and trade non-fiction, particularly scholarly monographs and edited volumes across the social sciences. I also work with cookbooks. As an indexer, my job is to create a map of the content of your book, anticipating how your readers will look for information.  I do this by combining my training and experience in indexing with my experience as a librarian in helping people find the content they are looking for.

I bring a long tenure in academia to my indexing and copyediting, and to your scholarship; my own academic work was highly interdisciplinary. I have an MLIS, and my BA is in World Religions. I have completed MA coursework in Women’s Studies and Religion and doctoral coursework in Religion in America. I have held faculty appointments in LIS, Women's Studies, and Communication Studies.

Because of my interdisciplinary background, I am very comfortable working with a broad array of social science disciplines, including political science and international relations, gender studies, anthropology, sociology, history, American studies, ethnic studies, religious studies, geography, education, library and information science, communication studies and interdisciplinary studies. Because of my love of things culinary, I enjoy working on cookbooks—especially world cuisines, vegetarian and vegan foods, desserts, and cocktails.
